Counting to 10, taking a deep breath . . . . For 4 days now, I have been attempting to write a Blog. But, after signing in to my website at Weebly, I had a Google Sense pop- up that would not go away and therefore I was unable to type a new Blog. Finally, go today to the Weebly support . . . where one would assume that the support person would be able to help....... I am not even going into detail, but finally, finally I am the pop up is gone and I am able to write a new Blog. I was starting to become a little less stressed' so proofed my work and hit post and the normal pop up appears that says my posting is being published and where do I want it posted and as always
ARTSTACK - A website for Artists and Lovers Of Art I have had some of my work available on this site for awhile. And, proud to say I have "followers". Today I posted a relatively new piece titled "Two Worlds". It is a mixed media piece as much of my work becomes as it is created. I have used water colors, pastels and silk paints on rice paper. I have also used tea staining - perfectly suited for use after brewing my tea:)) . And, as you will note, There is a good size piece of rusted metal - one world- which was a treasure I found while walking down at the marina at the lake. I invite you to follow my Art on ArtStack both at the website, Artstack.com. And, on Artstack page on Facebook. ~ ~ ~ Well, it has been over 2 months since I last sent out a Blog. Many wonderful memories were made during that time. . . . . Forever memories. And, at last I will soon be back in my studio. . . . . . the smells . . . the fountain running . . . the sense of possibility, creativity, serenity and dancing to my own music. As you can see, there are frames waiting for me to begin a new (new to me) encaustic technique. I am going to be working with encaustics on glass which will be lighted. Perhaps, if all goes well, I will have a piece in the next Blog. But, all of you who artists know that sometimes the art becomes what "it wants to be" with a different play than what you initially had begun........ Hope your summer was delightful ~ Ciao ~~ Wearable Art ~~ To the left is a photo of the most recent hand painted silk scarf that I finished this morning. I like working with the silk and using several techniques which can include in- additional to the designing with the silk paints themselves, I might use a rusting technique or even incorporating sun dying to get different dimensions and layering of most anything - on this particular piece, I used sweet grass. This particular scarf has been asked for; but, is going to be one of the prizes at my granddaughter's Bridal shower. I was asked this morning; that perhaps I would like to do a "Scarf Auction" and after the shower, it is a possibility. My scarfs are available for purchase by contacting me here under "Comments" or on Face book either on my profile page or studio page. Or email : Genevawtr@aol.com. Each one is unique and personally designed by me. Diaphanous Art In The Sky ~ The shapes, the designs, the colors and movement of the evening skies at sunset hold me in awe and capture the art of the heavens. The sunset up on Lake Erie, at my little summer place the other night floated across the sky like a diaphanous gown. These are only 2 of the photos I took that evening. ~~ My Reading Journey, at the lake.....is one of those books that you do not want to end.......I am just beginning to really know this man - this painter. Many things a bout him remind me of my self - and some do not! For all artists out there and reading this Blog - I think you might enjoy ! The painter is Jim Stegner - a man who likes his own company and yet is in conflict with himself about life and his art. Does this sound familiar with any of you??? He has suffered a horrible loss; and, moves from one art scene to another....... and in his love life as well. The book is made of romance, death, grief, anger and even violence. The author is Peter Heller, who has put forth in this book, a remarkable journey of exploration of the human mind, heart and creating what an artist must do. Peter Heller is a major contributor to NPR and is author of poetry fiction and non-fiction - ~~~~~~ |
