A theatre weekend was good medicine!
In October, my girlfriend and I bought tickets at Playhouse Square - Allen Theatre
for the Broadway production of "Steel Magnolias" . We got the last 2 tickets; and the show
was May 22, 2016! It all seemed so far away; and, finally the long awaited weekend arrived11
In April of 2015, we had enjoyed a lovely theatre get away in Cleveland, Ohio. At the time we
were making hotel reservations and found "no room at the Inn" at the hotel we had always
stayed at in the past. And, finally did get a room at The Downtown Cleveland Westin Hotel.
And it was meant to be! We were treated like royalty! In addition, we had some great
conversation with Erin Dybala, Manager. When we left, she told us to let her know when
we were
coming for another visit. And, so that is exactly what I did for this recent get away.
And, true to her word. We were treated like VIP's. From the moment we drove our car
to the front of the Downtown Cleveland Westin Hotel for valet parking we felt as those
the red carpet had been rolled out.
At the check in desk - no confusion - we were led to our Club Room on
the 20th floor which afforded us with a panoramic view of Lake Erie, and the Rock
And Roll Museum. Shortly after getting settled we were gifted with a bottle of champagne,
a beautifully presented bowl of fresh fruit and warm chocolate chip cookies. The 22nd
floor is the Club Lounge - where pre theatre foods and drinks were available to us.
Then to the Allen Theatre to see "Steel Magnolias". The production was fantastic - laughs,
tears and the strength of women's relationships. The restoration of the theatres within
the PlayHouse Square complex never fails to leave me in awe.
After the show, back to the Westin for a late dinner; and even though it was
after hours for a dinner menu - we were allowed to order what ever we desired.
At this Westin, there is never an uncomfortable moment, no stress..........whatever
from the valet gentlemen, to the bell gentlemen, to check- in personnel, to those
ladies and gentlemen delivering things to our room, and service by the people in
the lounge and restaurant - total satisfaction! As a note, I should and will the
next time, remember and or write down the names of each person who made
our stay a restful and memorable "vacation". One of those people, was
Richard, who was a part of the valet service upon our departure - and a man
of gentlemanly manners.
The Downtown Cleveland Westin Hotel is now our home away from home when we
are attending theatre and art and cultural events.
Thank you to everyone.
