~ Coco Chanel ~
"Coco's Paris", the title of the above framed collage art that I created several years
ago. Sometimes I have it listed for sale; and other times not!
Being fascinated by the art of fashion design - the art of ever lasting elegance ~
the vision for this piece fell into place like a song.
Last month, while scanning book reviews, , I came across a short review of
"Mademoiselle Chanel".. And, with a "one click" of the button on Amazon Prime, it
arrived at my door in 2 days. Just like magic ~
The author, C. W. Gortner, was a fashion executive; but, his passion for writing
led him to the creation of some of today's best selling historical novels.
The description of "Glamour" magazine. . . " sucked me in by my pearls and never
let go" fits my feelings about this book, perfectly! I did not want to put it down -
nor did I want it to come to an end.
I highly recommend this book. The reader will not only learn about the creation of her
classic fashion design; but, also the story of Chanel No. 5.
This is not just a "frivolous" book about high class and high cost clothes; but,
one of history during the war and the evasion and take over by Hitler. It
is a story of romance, survival, death, strength and the tenacity of one
small child to a world- known woman who touted the friendship of
world leaders such as Winston Churchill and artist, Pablo Picasso.
So, put on that little black dress and your pearls and be entertained.
