" Live with no excuses ~ Love with no regrets " ~ Montel ~ The above piece of art was started several years ago - probably about 7 years. It has gone through various "phases" adding and taking away. And, every once in awhile someone who has seen the pieces in it's transitions, will ask me why I have not had it on exhibition and/or when I will put it out there for people to see. The answer is, "I don't know". Back at the time it was started, I was seeing life in so many dimensions that I needed somehow to express that life is everywhere, life happens in many forms and seasons and real "alive" life ends - but leaves memories - it leaves pieces........ pieces of precious life. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The Art Of 70 , today found me sorting some pieces of my art and logging a more updated list. And, in doing this I came across some pieces that I have not had out and unwrapped for awhile. Other artists have mentioned this as well. And, we find ourselves nicely surprised with our " find". Altho, there have been other times when I have come across pieces of my art, that say,,,, "save me.....save me.....let me go". And, I have to make a decision whether they will be tossed or re-wrapped and stored away again or to reuse the wood, canvas, or whatever using and create a new art over the old. Much as with the seasons; and, much like life.................. But, for today, I shall "Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink the wild air." ~~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~~ The Art of The Art - comes in many colors, places and spaces . . . . .. . . "Cooking is like Love ~ It should be entered into with complete Abandon ~ ~ or not at all." ~ Unknown ~ i Last evening art was created through the love of friends and the love of food. The preparation of cusine is a sensuous affair with the lushness of aromas, the pallet of colors from natures bounty and the music of the soul. The Art Of 70 was a romantic evening of long time friends, and new friends joined together for an artful lesson in cooking at "Thyme In Your Kitchen" a culinary boutique located on State St. in downtown Sharon, Pa. It carries most any cooking supplies that you could dream of having in your own kitchen. And, cooking classes range from the "Italian Fest" that we prepared to children's cooking classes, baking, and International dinners of Cuban, Oriental and Middle Eastern menus. "A recipe has no Soul. You as the cook must bring soul to the recipe." ~ Thomas Keller ~ "The Art of 70" includes an invitation to be "Guest Artist"

It is moving toward the predicted 90 degrees - plus, today. And, at the moment my studio is cool. Fortunately, Is shaded by large old maple trees, since my air conditioner needs some workl Where in the world would I find these delicious colored waxes? Till later - Ciao The "Art Of 70 " appears that it is going to be a busy year. I am beginning a brand new decade of life - and I am quite excited. about creating more art and savoring new adventures. A pallet of colors for every new day. This piece of my art is one of three on exhibit at the James E. Winner Art and Cultural Center in downtown Sharon, Pa. Each moment of this day is a time of reflection, for sure! I moved here to my home on Kinsman Lake - 46 years ago this September. I was expecting son; my daughter almost three. The whole world of a perfect life ahead.............. Shadows of my life. My son, Frank A. Hiland and my daughter, Heather Keeling - now! My, how time flies. I am so so proud of both of them and love them more than the moon and back and more than the universe. And, for me, I now begin a whole new chapter of my story tomorrow. "The Art Of Turning
70 " . What shall I do....some of the things I have always done........ and some of the things that I have never done. For sure it is not a Bucket List - it is not an ending! It is a new beginning. A trip to Cuba with m "Wherever you go . . . . go with all your heart" ~Confucius ~ My artistic journey recently took me to Deep River Guest House in Oil City, Pa.. It's hostess and owner is Margaret Brostrom. Margaret is delightful, warm and a very creative person. And,, most marvelous of all a renowned artist. A full interview with her will be published here in the next few months. A stay at Deep River is so inspiring; and you can find her at www.airbnb.com . I am introducing Margaret though some of her art. " Is the end result of this journey an attractive piece of art....... maybe yes..... or, maybe no, depending on who has taken the time to view it". ~ Sterling Edwards ~ "Marina Morning" was sold at the Opening of the current exhibit at the Graffiti Gallery in Oil City, Pa. |
