I am very close friends with Sandy; and highly recommend her techniques as an instructor and she is truely an inspiration on your journey of artistic creation. ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~Poetry In Wax ~~ "Poetry In Motion" Encaustic is a very old technique used by the Greeks and Egyptian 3000 years ago. It is a medium that uses melted wax and can be applied or moved by various means such as brushes, heat guns, torches, pallet knives, ............... or really anything the artist chooses to initiate into the process. The art piece can be created with lots of texture, no texture with a very smooth surface or a combination of both. Mono printing is another technique used in the application of the wax and/or movement. In this particular piece of art I layered various colors of wax using a drip method, heat gun, blow dryer and sanding. The base on which this piece is created is on encaustic board. However, the art can be developed and the final piece of art completed on wood panel or sometimes I use rice paper or watercolor paper which is stabilized. Below you will my encaustic station or work table in my studio. There is another piece in process which I am hoping to complete tomorrow. "Zen Morning" "May all things move and be moved in me and know and be known in me May all creation dance for joy within me. ~~Chinook Psalter~~ This morning was so cool, so refreshing - I just walked around my lawn and captured the beauty of the morning. This is the cupid fountain, herbs, and flowers, and lanterns outside my studio. I am going through the pink door soon to create in my studio. I wish each of you a beautiful and creative day. "THE MERMAID'S SONG" Today I am sharing photos of a couple of new pieces of my art which I am taking to the framers on Tuesday. "The Mermaid's Song" incorporates found papers, & objects and layered with silk paints - creating a design and letting it dry and then layering. again. The media is done on rice paper. ~~~~ "NATURE WALK" "Music For Zeus" was created using a couple of different techniques - Tea stained cold press water color papers, dropping and rubbing copper powder, drops of metalic gold, silk paints, and encaustic - a very old technique using bees wax and resin. A large part of my current work is created in encaustics. Actually, in October of this year I will be giving a speaking presentation for The Bee Association which will trace the history of encaustic art and the techniques used by well known artists such as Piccaso and Jasper Johns. I will include the methods, tools, etc that I use in creating my own encaustic art. ~~~~~~~ This is your new blog post. Click here and start typing, or drag in elements from the top bar.
